  3. Soumya, in the modern world some words seems to have lost their meaning. Morale, Humane, Civilised - these and some other few can now only be seen in literature.

Good pictures. Maybe you should give them a copy too.

Here are two article that are MUST reads on the same issue:

  5. Deepa, thanks for the reference. It was very interesting to read. However, the second is a dead link.

In the first link Vaishnavi wrote a lot about BBMP taking steps to make Bangalore greener and cleaner. But, have you ever observed the fate of BBMP office at Hudson Circle? When the building's compound wall is stinking across Bangalore, I don't really know how responsible officials inside the building are sitting unaware of this!?

  6. @Prashanth

Never been to any BBMP office except the one in Corporation and it wasn't great either.

And I'll rty sending you the other link. It's a really good article.

  7. Deepa, I was actually talking about the same BBMP office which is in Corporation.

There is a Church in Corporation - Hudson Church. Hence Corporation Circle is also called as Hudson Circle.

If you happen to move from Majestic to City Market via Corporation, there is a traffic signal just at the LIC junction, left of which is the BBMP Office compound, which is urine stinking like hell and most of the officials commute in their Government vehicles through the gate next to this stinking compound wall.

Am still unaware as to why they are not brave enough to fine those who urinate the BBMP office wall, when they threaten in writing of imposing fine up to 500 elsewhere in the city!

Below the Lamp lies the Darkness? :o)

  8. Prashanth - Agree with your above comment. The Government only checks on sincere citizens.

Though what I'm saying now, is a bit unrelated, I would like to share it. I had once bought a 40-rupee-bus-daily-pass. I was in a hurry and didn't check what the conductor marked on the pass. I just bought it and got into the next bus. The conductor in the bus asked for my pass. When I showed it, surprisingly (to me), the previous conductor had marked it as a male pass! I couldn't tolerate the stupidity! And the new conductor asked me to buy a new pass or get down right there! It was embarrassing, because of the conductor's mistake I was suspected for possessing a fake pass!

I immediately got down at the next stop and went back to the same conductor and pointed him out what damage he'd done (luckily, he was still standing at the same stop)! Finally, I prised out a new 'female' pass from him!

On the contrary, I have seen conductors NOT issuing tickets dutifully to the commuters. If the ticket is for Rs.6, they keep Rs.5 in their pocket and just move to the next commuter, without issuing tickets.

What I wanted to say is, Government has all measures to twist and bend the lives of sincere middle-class common people, they build sophisticated systems such as metro rails, tarring "frequently" tarred roads, etc, but, they do not know how to correct the faulty system at a primary level. A better empire cannot be built on a wavering foundation. :|

  9. BBMP appoints few women to broom roads. And what do these women do? They push all the waste under a car or a tree! It's funny to watch it! But, it's depressing when you think about the mentality of irresponsible citizens and the consequences.

Who should be blamed for this? The women who cannot be corrected? Or BBMP officers who do not care about the finer details? Or the citizens who dirty the city?

  11. Chandrika, very true! We need to change the entire system altogether. It should start from grass-root level, means we citizens, right?

  13. With no offense to the other gender. In this case, I do no see any difference between a dog and them?
Till people own up the moral responsibility, we cannot see the change. To see the change, everyone has to be the change. There is no point in blaming the society.
Agreed. There is onus on the government too, to build enough public toilets at sane distances. But, after 2 days, no one can even pass in front of the toilets. People fail to keep it clean. They ab-use the public facility.
After they have emptied their tanks, how long will it take to flush? Why should they expect someone clean their mess?
Will they perform same act on their house wall? Will they not keep the toilets clean..

I commend efforts of Nirmala Shauchaalaya by Infosys.

  14. PEE-BLIC - that's a new addition to English Dictionary, good one Spicy :o)

Yeah, we should shoulder our responsibility of keeping public toilets clean being sensible citizens. No excuses on this whatsoever.
